Workplace View of Hybrid & Flexible Working:
Employers initial concerns about the impact of hybrid and home working appear to be working as latest research from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) reveals the number of employers reporting homeworking has increased productivity or efficiency significantly over the last year. Also the number of employers reporting the increase in hybrid and home working has had a negative impact on their productivity has fallen. Whilst it’s good that employers are embracing the benefits of flexible and hybrid working, it’s essential that they collaborate with employees to find solutions to benefit both the organisation and individuals in order to gain all the benefits from doing so such as job satisfaction, productivity, wellbeing and retention.
Losing Their Young Workers:
72% of businesses are at risk of losing young workers according to new YouGov research. Experts warn that ‘sense of clarity and direction’ is key to integrating and retaining your younger employees. It seems only 28% of UK businesses are equipped to attract young workers and accommodate their needs.
Do you employ 5 or more?
The key question is who do you use as your source of ‘competent H&S advice’. The requirement falls under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, Regulation 7 and applies to employers with 5 or more employees. You’re required to document risk assessments and manage workplace associated risk. The HSE minimum requirement for that source of competent advice is usually an NVQ level 5 in H&S.
